North India has many important places inside of it. The most important is the holy city of Varanasi. Varanasi is the city eveyone come to before they die. After they die if they are creamated their ashes are thrown into the Ganges, even if you aren’t creamated your body will be put into the Ganges. This river is considered the holy river.The Taj Mahal is a holy place, but it is also a palace. The Taj Mahal was built for the shah’s wife who died shortly after the birth of her 13th child. Construction for the Taj Mahal began in 1631, and it took 22 years to complete. There was a total of 20,000 people working on it.

In North India there are a lot of endangered spiecies such as panthers, lions, lepords, monkeys, and other animals. The government has set up over 600 reserves and national parks.
